What is the story of Lord Kuber in Hindu mythology?

Lord Kuber is a Hindu god associated with wealth, prosperity, and riches. In Hindu mythology, he is believed to be the god of wealth and the king of Yakshas, a supernatural race of beings.

According to the mythological stories, Lord Kuber was originally a Rakshasa (a demon) named Nalakubera, who was the son of the sage Vishrava and the brother of the demon king Ravana. Nalakubera and his brother Manigriva once insulted the sage Narada, who cursed them to be trees until they were liberated by Lord Vishnu.

Later, Lord Shiva granted them a boon, which made them invincible in battle but also made them arrogant and cruel. As a result, Lord Indra, the king of the gods, sought the help of Lord Vishnu, who took on the form of the dwarf Vamana and tricked Nalakubera into giving away his power.

After being defeated, Nalakubera sought forgiveness and was transformed into the god of wealth by Lord Brahma. Lord Kuber is often depicted as a dwarf with a pot of gold in his hand, symbolizing his association with wealth and prosperity.

In Hindu culture, Lord Kuber is worshipped during the festival of Diwali, which is known as the festival of lights and is celebrated as a time of prosperity and abundance. It is believed that invoking Lord Kuber's blessings during Diwali brings wealth and prosperity to one's home and family.
